Hello Cam
I have been back researching the Burgess tree and have discovered that a Thomas Burgess married Mary Garnett in 1784 at Manchester Cathedral . They had a son William, born 1785 at Liverpool who married Elizabeth Berry in 1808 and they had William Burgess, (the convict) in 1809, baptized in Manchester Cathedral. I will update my tree with accurate dates. So that solves the Garnet link. I do not believe that William Burgess who died at Windsor and was married to Mary Cantwell is this same man. I am in touch with a Fiddian researcher in England who seems to think Joseph Fidden is indeed a Fiddian .
I have had my DNA analyzed and he is looking further into a link there. What I need is a Burgess descendant who has a DNA reading from another direct descendant from Maria Fidden ( not descended from William and Hannah Walledge) to prove that my line is one in the same. William Garnett's death certificate did not acknowledge his marriage to my great ggrandmother or his children by her. I hope you find this interesting and that everything is going well with you.

Great, Cam!
Edith Lacey Thompson who married in 1881 Horace Barrow Montefiore, was my Great Grandmother. Emilie (nee Thompson), Walpole's sister, the first definite contact I have ever found regarding this branch of the Thompson family. She is on your Surnames List. Are you in contact with any of the 3 Montefiore children's descendants? I am very happy to share what I know about the other Thompsons.
Best regards from Lisa.

Thanks Lisa for visiting the site. I am yet to find a solid link from my family's James Montefiore born Dec 1831 and the rest of the Australian Montefiore family. I am researching all Australian Montefiores' to try and find this link.

My great grandfather was William John Burgess, first son of Hannah Maria and William. I would like to know more about William Garnett and the life of Hannah Maria. I know she remarried, William Tyler, and died aged 36. The children of this couple were very young when she died, my great grandfather would have been 19 years old.
Happy to have found your website.

I have just come across your FH website. My great grandmother Hannah Maria Walledge married William Garnett Burgess a stockman, in Cassilis in 1870 when she was 16 years old and obviously pregnant. They had two sons and then In 1875 my grandmother . William then stated his age as 25 and birthplace Sydney. I have spent many years researching this man and conclude that he could be the same William Garnett Burgess who married Henrietta Harrison, left her, went to the country married Hannah, left her and the children and returned to Sydney and married Martha Lee.
I am wondering if you know of any family lore that William did spend time around the Cassilis, Armidale district. My grandmother was born in Bendemeer.
Congratulations on your webpage.
